A call for Liverpool to be the first English city to test a Universal Basic Income (UBI) was discussed at the City Council meeting 19 September.

The motion, calling for Liverpool to pilot UBI ‘under the next Labour Government’ passed easily, although the leader of the Green Party councillors complained that when they had proposed a similar motion last year, it was knocked back by the same Labour members supporting this one.
